FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa - Scaffold and Formwork Contractors Saturday, October 30, 2010

The FIFA World Cup 2010 Football Tournament (Soccer World Cup to South Africans) is a mere 20 months away and South Africa is truly abuzz with preparations. There is an enormous amount of pressure on South Africa to execute a successful and memorable tournament and work has begun in full force to ensure that the tournament is fault-free.

Construction and Scaffolding is Key
The construction sector is booming and reaping the benefits of these preparations as stadiums are built along with new roads and freeways. Buildings, suburbs and districts are being renovated to create an attractive, first-world image of South Africa to visiting foreigners and television audiences from around the world.

Scaffolding is imperative to the preparatory processes as scaffolding is required for not only various formwork and construction projects, but also to provide safe and easy access for renovations and restorations.

Roads
The influx of people into South Africa for the World Cup, and especially into the main cities of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, requires that many infrastructure upgrades be made in these cities. The Department of Transport has been given a budget of R92-billion to bring the standard of the roads up to a level where they can cope with the enormous influx of traffic.

In Cape Town, the freeway system has always been relatively small and unable to cope with the volume of everyday traffic in and out of town. Roads are being widened to cope with the increased traffic that 2010 will bring. Many other cities are expanding their road infrastructure and repairing problems such as potholes. Scaffolding is used to build these new roads and complete the necessary formwork for the new infrastructure.

Buildings and Structures
In 2010 host cities, hotels are being built, old buildings are being restored to their former attractiveness and 'bad' areas are being cleaned up. The older buildings that are being restored are a mixture of high-rise blocks and smaller structures and scaffolding is needed to complete all of these adjustments and new structures.

Scaffolding is needed in the restoration process to allow workers access to high and difficult places to reach, whilst maintaining the safety of the workmen and bystanders.

Airports
One of the major construction projects taking place to accommodate the World Cup in 2010 is the expansion of South Africa's main airports. Over R5.2-billion has been invested in developing South Africa's airports to world-class standards. Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg have seen the majority of expansions, especially Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport which has benefitted from a R1.6-billion investment to develop the central terminal.

The terminal is linked to the Gautrain, a high speed train which will travel from OR Tambo Airport to Johannesburg.

Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg airports have had their existing parking facilities upgraded to large, multi-story parkades to allow sufficient parking for the influx of visitors. R132-million has been budgeted for refurbishments at national airports which will provide temporary facilities during the tournament.

Stadiums
There are five stadiums which are being constructed from new, adding to the stadiums already existing in South Africa. Green Point Stadium in the Western Cape (the previous Green Point Stadium was demolished in 2007), the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex, the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth and the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban are under construction currently to be finished for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The FNB Stadium, Ellis Park in Johannesburg and Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane, along with the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in North West and Vodacom Park in Mangaung (Bloemfontein) are in the process of being upgraded to increase capacity and improve facilities.

These stadiums require enormous engineering feats and advanced use of scaffolding and formwork to ensure that the structures are completed on time and in good quality to achieve the maximum success for South Africa in hosting the tournament.

The FIFA World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world. All eyes will be on South Africa to perform not only on the field, but also as a host country. With current construction underway, scaffolding is helping engineers and contractors to achieve top results in less time, with less man power but with the maximum safety available.

Race Horse Betting Online - Is it Worth It? Wednesday, October 27, 2010

With growing Internet access for everyone, betting online is becoming increasingly more popular. It is predicted that even more people will start to make their sole income from this medium in the very near future. Will you be one of them? The sheer convenience has caused this betting explosion and the amounts placed in the horse racing arena are growing on a daily basis.

The days of standing in line, on course or off to place a bet are history. Today's savvy punter does this from the comfort of his armchair.

So why is horse race betting via the Internet so worthwhile?

Well, it has many advantages over traditional methods. One advantage most often heralded by punters is that by placing a bet online you instantly get to see your return should your selection be successful. No more waiting for a settler to work it out on a calculator. No more arguments at your local bookmakers when you have calculated a different payout mentally. Remember... they are always right aren't they?

So punters feel more comfortable when they can instantly see how much they can win and their bets are settled at the speed of light... well almost. But far and above the most important factor is convenience. It has never been easier. When you head off to your local bookmakers, you have to stare at form on the daily's placed on the wall, take note of all your selections carefully, write out a betting slip and then hand it over to the teller. How archaic! On the internet, this and more is all achieved at the push of a button, the click of a mouse.

No more lost betting slips either and if you think how stupid... well trust me, one day when that 4 horse accumulator romps in and you go to your pocket to get the slip, where you just know you placed it... well you get the picture. This can't happen online!

How Readily Available is Race Horse Betting on the Internet?

Just do an online search for 'bookmakers' and you will have your answer. Internet gambling on horse racing is here to stay and can only grow in size and popularity.

Most online bookmakers are offering horse racing as a betting medium and whilst some will specialise in other areas, they will not miss the potential income stream from the horse racing fraternity. Another great advantage is that there a plethora of online deals to be had that just aren't available in the shops. Free bets abound and if you use them wisely there is good money to be made for free. Every day I come across special incentives that bookmakers are offering to place bets online and there are even websites dedicated to finding these offers and displaying them for the world to see.

This is big business and new ways to encourage you to give them your business are emerging every day. Anything that gives you more bang for your buck is a welcome as far as I can see. But as always, a note of caution. We have all heard the horror stories of being ripped off over the internet. I can see no reason why this should be any different for bookmakers than when shopping for a new watch. Apply the same stringent rules you would for any online activity and you should be okay. Never join a site that does not have clear policies and privacy rules.

Start with the well known and respected bookmakers and then take your time adding ones you have fully checked out to your portfolio. Don't just dive in on the whim of a special offer.

Northbridge is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, best known for its nightlife. Northbridge was officially declared a suburb and named in 1982.[2] Before then, the area was part of the Perth Central Business District (CBD), and known by informal names like "North of the Bridge" and "North of the Line". Located immediately north of the CBD, Northbridge is officially bounded by William St, Roe Street, Newcastle Street and the Mitchell Freeway. The name Northbridge is often misapplied to areas and landmarks which are east of William Street and/or north of Newcastle St — such as the Perth Cultural Centre — which are technically still part of the CBD. The area is largely a mix of commercial, public and residential properties. Northbridge has a wide variety of cuisine, including many Chinese restaurants, concentrated in Perth's official Chinatown, on Roe Street. Weight Training Soccer - How To Maximize Performance Friday, October 8, 2010

Weight training soccer is something that no soccer player can afford to ignore and avoid. It is very important. If the players have this training right, they simply maximize their chances to get a place in their favorite team.

On the other hand, if they lack such training, they simply carry the risk to end up at the back of the field. Weight training can help the players optimize their overall soccer skills and performance.

  • Endurance
  • Endurance is the ability of the player that allows them to remain active during the complete 90 minutes of the game - both in attack and defense - but without showing tiredness or impaired ball control.

The player has to constantly run throughout the game to demand the ball from other fellow players, to steal the ball from the opponent players, or to dribble the ball himself to the goal line so that he could go for shooting and score a goal.

Therefore, it is important for the coach running the weight training session that he design the training in a way that could help the players effectively work and improve their endurance.

  • Speed
  • Speed is another physical element that can be substantially enhanced with the correct weight training. The players must be efficient enough to accelerate their speed on the ground depending upon the circumstances, such as to steal to ball or to save the ball from stealing.

What is more, it is not all about the accelerating ability, the players are supposed to maintain this acceleration at the situation demands. For example, if you are playing as forward, you are supposed to accelerate with variation in speed over 3 to 20 yards.

The weight training must work on some of the associated basics, such as right straight ahead running speed, changing direction with speed, variation in speed etc. the coaches have to make sure that the training session designed by them will help the players attain these basics.

  • Instant Variation In Direction
  • Depending upon the position, the players may have to change directions instantly. It demands for their agility. There can be many such instances when you need to be agile enough to get the control of the ball effectively - whether it is an awkwardly bouncing ball or getting up quickly after a tackle.

Therefore, in order to enhance the agility of the players, the coaches must include various flexibility exercises in the weight training soccer session.

Watch Soccer Online Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Want to watch soccer online? Euro 2008 has brought new opportunities for creative minds in the domain of online soccer watching. There are nowadays many opportunities for watching football videos via the streaming system. They are free and classified according to the topic. There are sections with advertisements for players, reports, extracts from football matches in streaming. Soccer videos online feature football players like Ronaldo, Zidane, Henry or any other football player you admire. You can also see excerpts and summaries of the biggest football matches and to search for videos of football streaming through internal search engines.

Euro 2008 will materialize convergence of traffic and data, voice and video, into a single network. This will lead to a complexity of IP networks and a performance problem for many businesses that can not control wild downloads of video ... The networks must be secure and optimized to ensure the availability of resources.

Should this warning be taken seriously? Definitely not! IT systems have evolved since users have 4, 8 or even 16 Mb / s or more bandwidth Internet, available only for them alone at home. It is more desirable to surf comfortably at home and even watch TV on your PC, rather than at the office. The internet in an office is rather reserved for ad hoc research (routes, timetables, online banks) multiple but short lasting searches. The real soccer addicts have already planned mini-TV, portable tuners TNT on laptops, even broadcasts on the 3G mobile. Others prefer the comfort of a large screen at coffee shops or at home.

Learn the Brief History of Table Football Sunday, October 3, 2010

Table Football is a game that dates back to the late 19th century although the game that we may recognise would probably date to the early 1920's. This is a game that is known by several names including "Footsy" and "Baby-foot" among many others. Frequently played in clubs, bars, pubs and even many schools, smaller "table top" versions of the game can be bought for players at home. The International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF) promotes table football across the world, and whilst it does not organise any tournaments itself, it does ensure that the soccer tables used in international competitions, meet recognised requirements.

Asides from the table top games the variation in the types and styles of table football, is pretty broad. Little "micro" tables are available that are only 80 centimetres in length but still as sturdy and as well built as the full size games. At the other extreme, a table football game was made in Berlin for eleven players per team that was seven metres in length. The average game table is more likely to be between 4 and 5 feet in length. The balls used in the game which may be made from a variety of materials including wood, cork, marble and metal, affects the speed and control of the game. It is a fun game for everybody and those that have mastered skills in the past might find they still have them. For those who have never played before, it just takes practice to learn the best techniques. The combination of the ball texture and the "player" texture (good quality players would be made from aluminium), may ultimately affect the skill of the human player.
